3 cheers for spicy food

I’m on an intense spicy food bender right now. If you can tolerate a little kick in your food, spice can do your body some serious favors!

  1. spicy foods make you feel full more quickly
  2. heat like cayenne pepper may rev your metabolism (more calorie burn)
  3. spice can replace calorie-dense foods like butter for flavoring

My current favorite? Air popped popcorn with a few shakes of hot sauce! I also keep a jar of pickled sliced jalapeños in the fridge. When I want some heat, I dice them super finely (it basically turns into a paste) and toss them in with salads, sauces, or marinades.
