I’m on an intense spicy food bender right now. If you can tolerate a little kick in your food, spice can do your body some serious favors!
- spicy foods make you feel full more quickly
- heat like cayenne pepper may rev your metabolism (more calorie burn)
- spice can replace calorie-dense foods like butter for flavoring
My current favorite? Air popped popcorn with a few shakes of hot sauce! I also keep a jar of pickled sliced jalapeños in the fridge. When I want some heat, I dice them super finely (it basically turns into a paste) and toss them in with salads, sauces, or marinades.
